		he Swanson Center is one of Kansas City's leading surgery centers specializing in cosmetic and laser surgery. Hundreds of cosmetic procedures are performed annually, making it one of the most experienced centers in the country. In 1995, the Swanson Center pioneered the use of laser skin resurfacing with facelift surgery. Today, laser skin resurfacing is considered the most effective and safest treatment of facial wrinkles. It has become a standard technique for facial rejuvenation. The Swanson Center introduced ultrasonic- assisted liposuction to Kansas City in February 1997. This technique was developed and refined over the last decade in Europe and is now widely embraced in the U.S. Over 1000 patients have had Ultrasonic Liposuction at the Swanson Center - one of the largest volumes in the country. The Swanson Center introduced to Kansas City the use of the EpiTouch® laser in 1997 and the long-pulsed alexandrite laser in 1998. Hundreds of patients wishing to remove unwanted facial and body hair have now benefited from this remarkable new application of laser technology. The Center owns and operates a complete complement of lasers for cosmetic surgery in one location, so that patients always receive the laser treatment which best fits their needs. 		Canadian by birth, Dr. Swanson completed a residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at the University of Toronto and a fellowship in cosmetic surgery in 1988. Dr. Swanson moved to Kansas City in 1989, where he started private practice. During 1991-1995 he served as Director of the Cleft Palate and Craniofacial Clinic at Children's Mercy Hospital. He also served as Director of the Residency in Plastic Surgery at the University of Missouri-Kansas City during 1991-1993. In 1994, Dr. Swanson opened the Aesthetic Surgery Center of Kansas City, specializing in cosmetic surgery. In 1998, he opened the Swanson Center for Cosmetic & Laser Surgery. Dr. Swanson is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and the American College of Surgeons. He is certified in plastic surgery by the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery.
